MyFavouriteLook.

Dearest bloggettes,
Milan Fashion Week is in full fashion swing, and I cannot keep up! My sincerest apologies. On the note of Fashion Week, I would have to say that New York Fashion Week is definitely my favourite Fashion Week (out of New York, Paris, London and Milan... and many others). The reason why I love New York Fashion Week so much is because I am into "wearable" fashion. That might not seem exciting, but I like the fact of easily being able to translate fashion pieces from the runway directly into your wardrobe. It also seems like there is a much larger concentration of designers that show their labels in New York during fashion Month.
This fashion delight is yet another gown by Karen Craig and Georgina Chapman of Marchesa [this is very random, but I heard that Georgina Chapman made a cameo in the current season of Gossip Girl, yipee!]. I chose to feature this gown because I love the sparkley flower pattern in the top half combined with the standout fabric. The length is so elegant, and completes the dress so perfectly.
Isn't the gown just so dreamy?
I would love to hear your thoughts on this dress!

Hello fashion darlings,
How are you all?
Although I am [mildly] against "trends" per say, brogues are my kind of shoe. (Almost) never one to wear masculine/feminine combined looks, I cannot seem to get over brogues! I love how they are old fashioned made modern, in a fun way!
Do you like brogues as much as I?

Dear fashionistas,
How lovely is this dress from designer duo Karen Craig and Georgina Chapman of Marchesa? The light interwoven spontaneous ruffled layers combined with the fabric flower-esque petals make for an ethereal fashion dream.
The leg art/or stockings also complete this look perfectly.
Thoughts?

FashionFact.

Hello style darlings,
I hope the fashion season is going marvelously well for you all. I am having the greatest time viewing the shows on Style.com! It is too bad that I could not be at the shows front row (school is my first priority!).
The other day, I was reading the latest issue of Teen Vogue, so I decided to blog about the glossy. Editor in Chief Amy Astley launced Teen Vogue in 2002, with 4 test issues to great success. I love Teen Vogue because the fashion shoots in every issue always feature fun, fashion forward wares that are perfectly styled. The glossy also includes sections on beauty (10 Most Wanted), creative hair and artsy makeup ideas from Professionals (Hair artist Garren, Peter Philips from Chanel, Val Garland and legendary artist Pat McGrath of P&G Beauty, just to name a few), as well as information and pictures of celebrities.
Teen Vogue, you rock my world.

Loyal LOOKBOOK readers,
I apologize for no blog posts in a long time. School has been ever so hectic, so that would explain my few posts of late. Please bear with me.
How crazy glamourous is this hair style that was seen backstage at Jason Wu's Spring 2010 fashion runway show? I wish!

Dearest blog readers,
I hope you are all doing very well.
The summer is gone, but I have (almost) no complaints. 'Tis the season of beautiful designer coats and cardigans! I also love this season because Starbucks Coffee offers their Pumpkin Spice Latte. Yummy!
Back to fashion!
Although New York Mercedes-Benz/(MAC/Milk) Fashion week is sadly over, I cannot keep up (London Fashion week has already started!). The gorgeous number above is from Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2010 fashion show. I love sparkly gold fabric and straps in the upper section of the dress. Isn't it just so utterly feminine?! Also, the sparkles at the bottom (on the white fabric) and the tulle underlay on the dress looks so beautifully elegant.
Mr. de la Renta, I love your clothing.
(The above image is a courtesty of www.coutorture.com. All credit goes to Oscar de la Renta and his fine team). If I fine out posting this image is not allowed, out this post goes!

Dear fashion friends,
Even though the fashion industry is very seasonally based, I still think that it is important to remember work from fashion makers past.... so: how fun is this rockin' miniature dress from designer Betsey Johnson's Spring 2008 collection? I love how the sweetheart/bodice transforms into the full polka dotted layered skirt. Too bad you can't do a cartwheel in that number!
(For all who do not know, designer Betsey Johnson has done a cartwheel at the very end of all of her runway shows for years... I'll get back to you on the number of years).
What do you think?

Thank you!

Fashion lovers, I am feeling food-y! When I was young I read in Instyle magazine that this was Oscar de la Renta's favourite cake, ever. Mr. de la Renta loved this cake so much that he shipped this sugary delight to many of his closest friends all over the United States of America.
Eat up!

FashionFact/Wish...

Dear readers,
I hope you are all having a marvelous New York Fashion Week so far! I cannot wait to look at some of the latest Fashion Show offerings on Style.com. I may seem a little late, but I am in school all day thus do not have time to look at fashion shows because I have to do my school work!
I so wish I was at Fashion Week though. Sigh...
In case you did not know, the twice yearly fashion shows in New York take place in the Tents at Bryant park which are pictured above, (although this year MAC (Cosmetics) and Milk Studios offered free venues for fashion designers to display their clothing collections, most likely due to the poor economy).

Clothing that I am drawn to, whether they strike bold or subtle style notes, are most always feminine. It is such a great feeling when you put on a garment that makes you feel like a lady! This look comes right off of the Lanvin Fall/Winter 2009 Runway. I love this outfit because it is so romantic. With the feather hair piece, matte red lips, and shimmering embellished high heels, this look spells pure romance. The beige dress above, (which I am guessing is made of chiffon), is gathered with flowing fabric down model Lily Donaldson's left side. Featuring a shiny belt the same hue as the dress, this frock oozes an old style glamour.
Mr. Alber Elbaz's woman's clothing collection is a favourite of mine every season (thats right, EVERY season). The clothing that Alber Elbaz creates for Lanvin are always beautifully draped and expertly cut combined with femininity: which is why Lanvin steadily remains one of my favourite lines, season after season.

This beautiful outfit, from the Fall/Winter 2010 Pink Tartan runway is just divine. Kimberley Newport-Mimran (Head designer, President and co-founder of Pink Tartan) never fails to impress me. Kimberley designs feminine clothing with details that make the clothing wearable without looking too girly. Kimberley's clothing collections are always, I repeat, always so beautiful (which is why she is one of my favourite designers).
This pretty ensemble, with the sweet bow blouse; is tucked into a little black gathered sleeve coat with bow detailing, and black loose pants and pointy toe shoes (which pretty much makes for the most glamourous outfit ever. This look is topped off with minimal makeup and a pompadour (most likely to keep the eyes on the beautiful look).
I am having a sartorial moment.
This image is a courtesy of http://www.pinktartan.com/. I presume this outfit was designed by Kimberley Newport-Mimran and give Kimberley Newport-Mimran and Pink Tartan and affiliates of Pink Tartan all credit for this image. I e-mailed Pink Tartan for permission to use this image on my blog, but never heard back, so I am assuming that using this image for TheLookBook is fine. If utilizing this image is not okay, I will take full responsibility for the use of this image, and delete this blog post immediately. Thank you for bearing with me.

FashionFact

Dear readers,

Since Mercedes-Benz starts in only two days (yay!), I thought I would share a Fashion Industry fact with you darlings. Have any of you ever once thought “who invented New York Fashion Week”? I know I certainly have! Well my dears, the answer is right here! The driving force behind the inspiring event known to many as New York Fashion Week, is none other than the lovely Fern Mallis. Currently the Executive Director of IMG Models, Fern is inspiring because of the single reason that she created this opportunity for multitudes of designers to display their work during a set week, making their beautiful work more widely available, and more widely acknowledged (by fashion insiders, of course!). As well as allowing the opportunity for creative visionaries to display their work, Fern’s implementation of New York Fashion week has seen the formation of many jobs in the fashion industry (which creates millions of dollars each year. Genious idea? I would say so.

There is no way that I could not feature this georgous look on TheLookBook. Coming from Michael Kors' Fall 2009 Runway show, this pink fur coat is perfection. With a tailored cut and shape, this frilly piece is transformed into an edgy look with shiny black ankle boots, a matte skinny cincher, slicked back hair, and, dark eye makeup. Michael Kors has won me over as a true fashion follower of his.
