Fashion A-Z, Round 1

I have decided to compile a list of fashion people/things ALPHABET! Yes... you read that correctly. 26 fashion related words. Hopefully this gives you knowledge about the fashion industry you never had before!

Azzedine Alaia: a brilliant French designer who randomly designs collections when he feels so inclined. Michelle Obama is a fan. Katie Grand (Editor in Chief of cult magazine Love) wore a short brown leather dress by the designer on her wedding day.

Balenciaga: a futuristic French line designed by Nicholas Ghesquiere.

Chanel: a super popular Parisian fashion line currently designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Actress/former model Diane Kruger wears Chanel to pretty much all of her movie premiers. Chanel also recently had a temporary tattoo waiting list ($75 for a four day tattoo) of 3000+I believe.

DNA is a modelling agency. Linda Evangelista (one of my Super faves) has been with DNA for awhile.

Eva Chen is Teen Vogue's super darling Beauty and Health Director.

Franca Sozzani is Italian Vogue's EIC (Editor in Chief).

Georgio Armani (not the actual man) is pretty much an upscale global fashion empire with fashion, fragrances, and eyewear available to consumers.

Hyoni Kang is an adorable Korean model (and Teen Vogue favourite).

Isabel Marant is a lovely French fashion designer. Right now she and her pretty designs are very popular, marking Marant craze.

Jeremy Laing is an internationally renowned Canadian Fashion designer. Jeremy graduated from Ryerson's fashion design program in the year of 2002 and quickly became known for his dreamy, printed designs.

Keltner, Jane is Teen Vogue's Fashion News Director. Jane goes to the twice annual shows to find out about new fashion designers and their backgrounds/special projects to write about in the glossy.

Lanvin is a super amazing Parisian label designed by Mr. Alber Elbaz. I love Lanvin for its whimsical draping and romantic designs. Mr. Elbaz received a standing ovation for his brilliant Spring 2008 collection which I urge you to peruse here:

Marchesa is my version of heaven. Designers Karen Craig and Georgina Chapman manage to whip up some of the beautiful dresses I have ever seen. I LOVE.

Nanette Lepore is a New York, NEW YORK, NEW YOOORKK, designer who designs a supercute line of fresh seperates. Nanette has a daughter names Violet, and together they were featured in Teen Vogue.

Oscar de la Renta is one of the most brilliant designers to take up space on Park Avenue (in New York City, of course!). I love to sheer elegance of Oscar's clothing collections. Mr. de la Renta has a son named Moises who is (not so) quietly entering the fashion design scene. Moises has a collection for MANGO called MDLR (I believe?).

Prabal Gurung is a newbie Nepalese designer who sometimes puts floral apliques on his frocks. Mr. Gurung's celebrity clientele ranges from Leighton Meester to Demi Moore to Oprah Winfrey.

Q ...

Rodarte is a moody label designed by Laura and Kate Mulleavy. The sisters took their line to New York and were featured on the cover of industry rag WWD (Women's Wear Daily) shortly thereafter. The duo has collaborated with Target/Tavi in a beauteous collection, and shoe designer Nick Kirkwood has made shoes for their line.

Sarah Kuhn is the Accessories Editor at Teen Vogue. Sarah has painted bags for Slow and Steady wins the race, and she also plays in a band.

Tom Ford is a successful fashion designer with a label of the same name. Tom worked/designed for Gucci before helming his own line. Tom just came out with a movie starring Julianne Moore and newcomer Nicholas Hoult (who was featured in Teen Vogue) called A Single Man. Hooray for fashion people doing movies! Tom Ford also has a fragrance called Black Orchid which has cool fashion-y/big hair ads.

Under Anna Wintour's direction, Amy Astley (one of my hugest fashion role models) was asked to create Teen Vogue.

Valentino (current) designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccoli created the most EPIC, AMAZING, WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, Spring/Summer 2010 runway collection. If I had the ability to buy the WHOLE collection I WOULD. IT WAS THAT AMAZING.

While at Perry Ellis, Marc Jacobs crafted his infamous grunge collection

Xtra Hot Venti Tazo Chai Tea Lattes (or any Starbucks drink, for that matter), are one of fashion's hottest accessories.

Yigal Azrouel is a fashion designer who makes pretty dresses.

Zac Posen is a New York based womens wear designer. A couple of dresses that come to mind that Gwyneth Paltrow has worn are the beige accordian fold dress and the fushia and red dress (both short sleeve, huggy numbers).
