It has been a long time.

Between working on this blog, and this blog, attending fashion school,  and training for a 5K run, this blog needs some love!
I am excited to dive back in to blogging. It is time to make fashion fun again!

What a welcome back this Raf Simons for Christian Dior Couture (!!!) is! The colour evokes a major feeling of happiness, and happiness is a good thing. The colour of this dress compliments Julianne's fiery red locks. The couture shape of the skirt is beautiful, and the proportions of her body in this dress are spot on. What are your thoughts on this dress?

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring/Summer 2012

Was told never to apologize for not blogging, which I definitely relate to. But I promised myself I would never fail this site when I STARTED IT MORE THAN THREE YEARS AGO. Happy Birthday, The Look Book! CRAZY. How that time flies!

When this collection popped up on style.com (late at night), I looked at it three times. In a row. That never happens. Forced myself to hop in to bed, woke up in the morning, and looked at the line 2 more times. You should probably know how I feel about this collection by now, munchkins.

A light pink tank and (probably silk) mauve slouchy love-affair-with-my-bed-kind-of-day-but-I have-to-go-to-work pants? Done.

This outfit is dreamy. The soft, wispy outlines on the edges of the white blouse assist with aforementioned dreaminess.

Can definitely picture this outfit described on an online retail site as a "play suit". When retailers list items of clothing as a "play suit" I wonder why I am so much more inclined to further investigate said item of clothing? Maybe because purchasing the item of clothing alludes to a fun time?

Also. This is (probably?) my favourite look from the whole collection?

Another favourite. This top combination will be in my wardrobe. The light orange on lavender colour is quite ethereal, mais non? The fact that Mr. Lim can remain ethereal AND futuristic at the same time amazes me. I can just picture air floating through the slits in this models pants creating an ability for her to fly. FLY... PEOPLE. FLY!

Not usually such a fan of little vests, but this number just works. When this collection was available for pre-order on Moda Operandi, blogger went NUTS.

This look is so fierce. The black with sheer-ish cream detailing on the sleeves? I VOTE YES.

A plastic-y sheer rain coat overtop a slick white pairing? A+ for you, Mr. Lim.

Those shoes are so shiny, they put Dorothy's to shame.

This colour combination just understands me.

And again...

Phillip Lim said that this collection was inspired by kites. How cool! The athletic vibes in this collection seem to be reinvented in a modern way for our times.

Another definite kite inspired dress. I want this one too.

This outfit is the most perfectperfectperfect have seen in a long time.

This collection was my favourite from all of the Spring/Summer 2012 offerings. Most certainly compared each Spring/Summer 2012 collection I viewed to this one. Phillip Lim, for me, has gone from being a "summertime phase" to a lifelong love.

So good. The slits at the front of some of the pants in this collection feel fresh, and interpreted in a modern way.

Streamlined lines always win.

I find the rounded shape of this jacket very interesting!

My (possibly?) favourite look from the collection.

Okay. I give up. I cannot choose just ONE favourite. They are all so good. The colour combination of navy blue and black is so chic. Totally Jane Keltner de Valle (Senior Fashion News Director of TEEN VOGUE.)

I love the simplicity of the flat black sandals pictured.

The print on the printed pants behind this ensemble was not my cup of tea. Not a print person, at ALL. Would be hard to be a designer because you would have to tailor your collection to meet the needs and wants of SO many people. People like prints. Am not a fan. Love the two-toned sandals.

Here is the designer himself! I love his pants. I used to have a shirt like that when I was little, only the lightness of the shirt started at the top, gradually becoming a darker pink as the shirt reached it's hem. S'called NOSTALGIA, people. Feel that it is important to include pictures of the designers when I write a post on their collection. So many times when I look at a review, or speak with people about different fashion collections, I fail to remember what the actual creator of the clothing looks like!

How awesome would it be if more designers, editors, models, and, bloggers, were on the cover of major magazines? They are quite a pretty bunch, and feel that they deserve more recognition for their hard work!

Chuckle Fest.

Coming back to the writing table after having started this story, I find this story hilarious. One night while commuting home on the subway, I was thinking that I would love to write. I love writing, and expressing my experiences, thoughts, and, emotions, through words. When I made it home from the rainy outdoors, write I did. Then I was thinking: UM. I have a seemingly forgotten fashion blog I have neglected because my minutes are spent creating, promoting, and blogging over here, so check it out!

Here is a pretty comical non-sartorial story for YOU:

There was a man who sitting beside me (not right beside me, but two seats away. Thank God he was not right beside me. I would have cackled with laughter. Cackled, I tell you. This man was carving a 2 by 3 inch piece of styrofoam into a shape which God only knows from what appeared to be a guitar pick. A GUITAR PICK. He was carving so intensely, and crazily, about 5 people forming a square in their seats around him (myself included) on the westbound train stared humourously, transfixed, at this mad/carving man. This man made a complete mess of his surrounded area... just before he exited the subway he quickly tidied his spot as if he was never there. Astonishing. To this day I am still amazed and wonder what that man was making from his styrofoam cube.

Don't be afraid to be yourself and do fun things on the subway. I truly think we can all take a lesson from this man.

Secrets

Secrets to being a star employee?

...

Certainly not steaming your clothes before you arrive the office. Subway commutes and walks usually wrinkle your clothes a wee bit before you even get to the office anyway.

But rules for success:

Never be standing around doing nothing. There is ALWAYS something to do.

Everyone texts/BBMS/Pings. Its fashion, PEOPLE. What are my thoughts on this? Texting is super fashiony. If you are doing something important, do it while you are eating or on a wee break.

Arrive early and stay later than others - typical intern guidelines.

Be friendly, kind, and super hardworking... even if it takes a bit of time and other people are not this way. If you are afraid to do something (which I definitely have been) remember that everyone else also had a first time for everything like you!

Be thankful for an awesome opportunity you have been blessed with!

Stephen and Kirk are the raddest. Also, their designs are SO swoon worthy. Clothes that make you say "I want that on my body".

Chloe Spring 2011

Hey guys!

I just wanted to share some pictures from Chloe's lovely Spring 2011 runway show. I think it is undoubtedly one of the best shows of the season!

I love the simplicity and high-quality looking-ness of this dress. This is something I would choose to wear!

Since Hannah MacGibbon stepped in as head designer for the house of Chloe, it seems like she does no wrong. A match made in fashion heaven? I would say!

Collected Inspiration

Dearest TeenVogue, you can do no wrong. Look at how beautiful the hair is, in this picture. I love the denim jumpsuit, and the blanket is rustic and a super cool idea.The tweed underneath of this navy cardigan looks beautiful together.

What I am loving...

How insanely gorgeous is this Pink Tartan dress? I love the colour, shape, and the ruffles are INSANELY BEAUTIFUL GORGEOUS! What are your thoughts on this seeming sartorial confection?

Crushing on...

Right now I am loving this Miu Miu puff shoulder wool blend jacket. For me, this item would be a wardrobe staple for years to come. It would nice to pair it with a grey silk, cashmere, or merino sweater underneath or with a crisp whit shirt and pair of wool pants. Lalala.

Back to school!

My Teen Vogue visit...

So... as you all know... Teen Vogue's Beauty and Health Editor Eva Chen granted me the amazing opportunity to visit the Teen Vogue corporate headquarters at 4 Times Square in NYC. Asking for this opportunity and not taking would seem silly, so I quickly got on planning my first bite out of the Big Apple (which I love, and plan to move to some day!).

My visit to Teen Vogue took place on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at approximately 3:30 (if you want specifics).

Taking a flight from the Buffalo International Airport to the John F. Kennedy Airport, landing in the City at 12, we (I took my first trip to New York City with my Mom, my Mom's friend Marcey, and Marcey's daughter Holly. We are all friends.) did not make it to Manhattan (in my New York post, I mentioned we stayed at the BEAUTIFUL Renaissance New York Hotel 57) until 1:00. By the time we checked into our hotel, unpacked all of our clothing, grabbed lunch, and got ready, we were finally ready for our Teen Vogue visit!

1 sweltering cab ride, 2 Coach shoes, and 5 hair fixes later, we arrived at 4 Times Square. Walking in the black lacquered building (where Anna Wintour goes to work every day, no less), we grab a visitor name tag, and proceed to ride up the floor 4-9 elevators. Holly and I accidentally get off on the wrong floor (where Bon Appetit magazine is located), but soon found our way to the 9th floor.

AND WHAT A SIGHT THAT WAS!

After a little navigation to find the telephone, we dialled Eva's extension, and she came out. Eva is super cute, and so nice. When we visited the Teen Vogue offices Eva was wearing look #2 off of super fashion designer Thakoon Panichgul's Spring 2010 runway - a gorgeous seemingly crinkled silk chiffon-y type material of various different floral-y patterns, a single, pretty, bangle with one stone-y jewel. On her feet were leopard print-y Azzedine Alaia shoes, no less. Her outfit was, in a word, BEAUTIFUL.

Proceeding a polite welcome to the magazine's stunning head quarters, Eva invited my friend Holly and I into her office for a legitimate fashion meeting. In this meeting Eva first handed us the current issue of Teen Vogue, then discussed her career, the magazine's history, Amy Astley's career and history, as well as Eva's school path (including Johns Hopkins, Oxford University, and Columbia, no less).

After our meeting with Eva in her beautiful office filled to the BRIM with the hottest, newest cosmetics in the market - think Clinique, MAC nailpolishes, the Paul Smith kitty lipstick - Eva took us on a tour of the Editorial floor, fashion closet, and beauty closet (where she let us choose out some lovely goodies - I picked out mostly Bert's Bees body products... YUM.)

While at Teen Vogue, we got the chance to talk to Style Blogger Andrew Bevan, Entertainment Director Danielle Nussbaum (who is SO funny, and writes HILARIOUS/awesome tweets), Assistant to the Editor in chief Amy Astley, Ana Dragovic, super nice Online Editor/Director E.J. Samson. The thing that shocked me the most about meeting all of these SUPERnice people was that they dropped EVERYTHING and put their full attention on us as they spoke with us.

Teen Vogue facts:

Everyone at Teen Vogue was CRAZY nice.

The office is divided into separate sections according to their respective departments, like: Beauty section of office for Beauty Department, fashion closet, beauty closet.

There were pictures of Teen Vogue fashion shoots from many past issues all over the walls.

There were racks and racks (SWOON) of the seasons hottest fashion for the upcoming photo shoots in the hallways of the magazine's corporate headquarters, as well as the fashion closet.

Teen Vogue's Senior Accessories Editor (Shiona Turini) has quite possibly the best office I have ever seen in my life (her floor to ceiling is covered with the newest, hottest latest accessories, from brands like Marc by Marc Jacobs, to D&G, no less.

Thank you, Eva, and Teen Vogue, for this amazing opportunity. It was great to see Teen Vogue, and you all are wonderful.
